Speaking of planemaking...
Here's a great post over at Mike's Oud Projects Forum on modifying an inexpensive brass rabbet plane to cut shallow rabbets for lute soundboard half-binding. It features a double-sided fence for left hand and right hand use. It's designed for instrument-making, but would work nicely for cutting shallow rabbets for inlaying furniture banding. The idea was based on Robert Lundberg's design, but altered for bi-directional use. Well documented, its a plane that I hope to eventually build. Thanks, John for your effort.
