The Latest

A couple weeks ago I shipped off my latest oud. This is a rather simple one. I'm actually leaning more towards these simple designs, not only because of their understated elegance, but because they are quicker to make. Nevertheless, the owner of this instrument waited over a year and a half to get this one. I got to play it for a couple weeks before shipping it out. Click here for a sound file. Criticisms welcome!

  1. Very Nicely done, i've been watching your progress on this Project and it's been really Sweet watching.

Better then what I could've done, I love the Scroll Work you've down also, That's one main reason I follow this Blog.

I do scroll work myself, 2 months old now, working on a custom polar bear pattern for a friend of mine, hope you check me out sometime.

  4. Once again, magnificent! Looks and sounds great. What's the
white material at the tip. Is that ivory?

  6. wow. beautiful work. Does it hurt to ship one of these away from your home (possibly never to see it again)? I often feel that way, and nothing I've produced is remotely as beautiful as your work.

  7. Thanks Rookster. I actually enjoy seeing my instruments in other's hands. That's what it's all about for me. But I don't much like the worry while the oud is in transit! I don't like to ship them...

  11. Simply Stunning ,Jameel!

I love the fact that the pickgard is close to the rosette. Very nice. And that is where it should be if the aim is to protect the sound board :-)

The only problem with this oud is that it is not mine :D

    My best regards
